VAMUS BUS 47 SAGRES AND LAGOS - OBSERVATIONS AND CONNECTIONS TO AND FROM SAGRES

Yes this is complicated! Please study carefully. Buses are infrequent at weekends, especially in winter.

The printed timetable (downloaded from the VAMUS website) shows a very strange looking set of arrival times in Lagos, allowing up to 33 minutes for the last part of the journey, 9km from from the village of Espiche, into Lagos.
That takes only 13 minutes going the other way.  I queried this with VAMUS, who quickly replied that the arrival times in Lagos were correct in the printed timetable.

I have used their live GPS tracker display to follow the 1000 bus from Sagres. One time it reached Espiche at 1102 and was ten minutes late. Arrival in Lagos was at 1121, four minutes early by the timetable. Therefore it took 19 minutes between Espiche and Lagos.
If the intermediate times are correct, it is fairly obvious to me that the timetable has been padded by about ten minutes, so that arrival times in Lagos are 'realistic' to allow for late running and so that passengers don't see a 10 - 15 minute connection at Lagos that may not be viable in the event of late running.

On a Saturday, the 0750 bus from Sagres to Lagos arrived at 0856, nine minutes 'ahead of schedule' and on another day, the 1550 bus from Cape St Vincent to Lagos arrived 16 minutes 'ahead of schedule', which somewhat proves the point!

Lagos railway station is about five minutes walk from the bus station using the footbridge across the river.

Albufeira's railway station is nearly four miles (6km) from the town itself, but even that extra bus or taxi ride might be better than sitting around in Lagos for an hour or two.
There is a gap of about 3 hours 30 minutes in the mornings with no trains.

There are NO BUSES on winter weekends and holidays from Lagos to Albufeira and Faro between 0830 and 1235.
The last winter weekend local buses from Lagos to Faro are at 1235 and 1300, to Albufeira at 1615.

The 1830 bus from Lagos to Sagres only runs on schooldays.

The last bus from Lagos to Sagres at weekends and on holidays all year is at 1715.
