VAMUS - the regional bus operator has completely
changed its website. Some information previously found easily is
no longer.
I am taking a good look at everything. However some links may not
work for a few days. The main website address is now https://www.vamusalgarve.pt/vamus/home.
Warning!! Contactless
card payment is not accepted on board
trains and buses in the Algarve except on the 'Proximo' buses in
Faro city.
A pre paid pass for VAMUS regional buses is obtainable at bus
stations. This reduces fares on their buses by around 30%.
There is also an 'app' based account for VAMUS regional buses
which can be used to the same effect. Local buses around the big
towns have their own tickets and passes.
It is being said locally that the railway is ready
to start operating electric trains on the Algarve line. A new
timetable may therefore be introduced at very short notice.
This could result in some information being in need of update,
which I will do as quickly as I can once the details are
published.
