arriving in Lagoa at 1920, there is a non stop bus to Portimão at 1925. You might just make it.

++ this stop is 100 metres from Estombar / Lagoa railway station, down on the main road.

** buses start from and end at stop 1 in Avenida Guanaré near the Repsol filling station and the Largo do Dique. This is by the river and about 5 minutes walk from the actual city centre.
On the way into the centre of Portimão, the buses take a rather long route after crossing the bridge, owing to the one-way system.
They stop at several places before getting to the terminus. No time allowance is made for this.
If you don't want a journey around town, get off at the first stop after the bridge, then cross the road for the five minute walk into the actual centre. Map here.

On the way back to Lagoa etc they go directly out over the bridge, not stopping anywhere until on the other side of the river at Parchal.

Praia do Carvalho

If you are tempted by the Praia do Carvalho, please read.
Access to the beach is 150 steep steps down from the road (and of course 150 steps back up) and the last 20 of those are through a little tunnel bored through the rock.
The bus stop is about five minutes walk through the resort centre from the actual beach. The beach is entirely enclosed by cliffs; the steps are the only access except by boat!
There is some good walking along the cliffs and hills in the surrounding areas, although the going can be a little difficult in some places.
Finally, the area is quite isolated. There are no facilities at the beach and I saw none in the immediate vicinity, so take supplies with you!
