SPECIAL NOTE - A LONG TERM MAJOR ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN PARCHAL STARTED  ON 12 OCTOBER 2026. THE MAIN ROAD THROUGH THE TOWN WILL BE CLOSED
ALL TRAFFIC, INCLUDING BUSES, WILL HAVE TO TAKE A VERY LONG DIVERSION. THIS IS BOUND TO AFFECT TIMINGS.
This map shows in yellow the stops that are closed, in green stops remaining open and in blue additional stops along the diversion.
There is no suggestion yet of a revised timetable

The Portimão bus stop is in Avenida Guanaré, about ½ mile (0.8km) from the cruise ship dock. Minibuses meet cruise ships if that's too far to walk.
These buses pass Silves Railway Station, which is about 1.5km from the town, about 10 minutes after leaving Lagoa, going towards Silves.

TIMETABLE NOTES

X - The bus station in Rua 1º de Maio, just south of the town centre. Buses also stop elsewhere in the town.

Y - The arrival time of the 1745 bus from Messines to Portimão looks strange, but it is what the timetable says!
** buses start from and end at the Avenida Guanaré near the Repsol garage and the Largo do Dique. This is by the river and about 5 minutes walk from the actual city centre.
On the way into the centre of Portimão, the buses take a rather long route owing to the one-way traffic system.
They stop at several places before getting to the terminus. No allowance is made for this. Arrival in Portimão may be about 5 minutes later than the time shown on the timetable.

If you don't want a trip around town, get off at the first stop after the bridge, cross the road for the five minute walk into the actual centre. Map here.
On the way back to Lagoa etc they go directly out over the bridge, not stopping anywhere until on the other side at Parchal.
