These fares apply to REGIONAL (local)
trains in the Algarve. Much higher fares apply if you use AP or IC
trains for these local journeys.
Children 5 - 12 travel half price, those under 5 travel
free. Anyone 65 or older can travel at half fare on production of
photo ID eg passport.
Tickets for these trains can now
be purchased at the railway website www.cp.pt or using their
'app' and it's in English.
Most stations are unstaffed - if you don't have a ticket, buy your
ticket on the train and have some cash with you! Cards are not
accepted on board.
FARES ARE BEING INCREASED ON 1st JANUARY 2024 BY AVERAGE 6.43%.
IT'S THE FIRST INCREASE IN TWO YEARS.
